Follow The Rainbow

Saw this rainbow when I was heading out to shoot. I immediately stopped where I could and setup my camera for a few shots.

When I took this a storm had already passed but a new one was building up. I didn’t expect a rainbow or anything. When I turned the corner to head to my shooting spot I saw the giant rainbow and knew I could stop and get a shot. Think this is my first rainbow picture. The only bad thing about this is that I was using my Nikon D5500 which doesn’t have a L-bracket for me to setup on the tripod. So I just had to rotate the tripod head to get it.

Editing wise this is more or less straight out of the camera. I had to straighten it because of the tripod head situation. I did pump the dehaze and clarity in the clouds using a gradient. Then I did some local dodging and burning to get it to where it is.

  1. I love the rainbow! We have had our share of rain but nothing much this week. Need some more for another rainbow. I like the clouds. They are really angry looking clouds but I think there is a peek of sun under those clouds before night sets in. I enjoyed.

  2. You complained about the Florida weather and now it is rewarding you with Rainbow Photography. The rainbow theme is a new one for you. I am looking forward to your unicorn series next week. I hope it is sparkly!
