Thai Motorbikes – Part 2

Concluding the Thai motorbike series today. One of the things I get asked is why is the motorbike so prevalent in Thailand and Asia for that matter. The answer is they are a cheap form of transportation. Cars are expensive because they are usually imported in. This puts them out of reach for a lot of families. Cars are just now becoming affordable in Thailand but still, the down payment on a car is more than buying a motorbike outright. There is also traffic in the urban areas and cars aren’t as mobile as bikes are for weaving through traffic. So they are far more practical as transportation.

I forgot to mention I like to thank Adrenaline Mob and Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood for providing the editing music. The Clapton and Winwood was from a concert they did together at Madison Square Garden in New York City and they played the entire set together doing their own songs and covers. Good album and worth checking out.

Enjoy!

  1. I enjoyed the photos. The photo on the beach is very pretty. So many colors and they really look like the people take good care of their transportation.

  2. Which one of these glorious rides was yours? I have my guess that it was the lonely one in black and white. It needs a friend.
