So I was sitting on the National Mall in Washington DC waiting for my friend and then we were going to embark on a photowalk led by Trey Ratcliff of Stuck In Customs. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the guy in the image below carrying the cross in the image over his shoulder walking to the Washington Monument that is to the right out of the frame in the image. Once he got to the spot where I snapped the image he just stopped and stood there with his cross facing the monument.
With something like 100 photographers around he quickly became a “subject of interest”. Most ran to frame him from behind to capture the monument. I kept my seat and put on my 135mm and took a couple shots. I just liked the framing with the flags, the clouds, the grass, and the people in shadow from the Sun. Gives is the image a bit of gravitas.
Shot on my Sony A7R with a Minolta 135 2.8.
