Chicago Redux – Final

So ends the journey back in time with my Chicago images. From the same boat but with evening setting in. I look at these images and cringe inwardly and want to shake my past self and ask what the hell was I think? Photographic masterpieces these aren’t. I just like them warts and all. Sparkly lights are cool!

Knowing what I know now versus then I know I could have pushed ISO higher to get faster shutter speeds. I also didn’t use spot metering back then (WHY?). You can shoot low light with spot metering versus any other. You just need to know what the hell you are doing. If anyone wants to learn about spot metering go get yourself a cheap point and shoot and put it into spot metering mode. Then go out and shoot. Trust me, you will learn how it works better than any fancy camera or class it going to teach you.

As a reward, I promise on Friday something every flower lover out there will enjoy. After that, I’ll start on the new stuff I shot.

Thanks for sticking out the time warp with these pictures.

We have enjoyed your series of Chicago. I agree with the sparkling lights in the buildings against the crisp blue sky. The last photo is very nice with the blue sky, the sparkling colors and lights in the building plus the water with just a light shimmer finishes the photo off. We will look for some new flower power tomorrow.
