Macro Light Fun

I recently purchased a macro ring light to try and get better lighting on my macro shots. Nothing like Amazon tempting you with a deal of a day to make you do an impulse purchase. I received it a little over a week ago but haven’t shot with it yet. Since I got my EM1 back from repair I figured I might as well test both out at the same time. It was when I attached my Olympus 60mm Macro lens on the camera and then the macro ring light that I didn’t have a step ring to fit the thing! So I grabbed a Yashica 55 2.5 Macro I have and attached that. Seeing how there are various items in the office to shoot and seeing how manuals aren’t required reading I just went forth and took some sample shots. Mostly I left the flash in Light Mode which means I really could not get the stupid thing to fire correctly on single pin but whatever. It also didn’t help that I was manual focusing and forgotten how to enable focus peaking on the camera. It felt good to get some shots even if they aren’t perfect because I was rushed and just playing around.

Enjoy.

  1. We liked the flower power today! We choose the Poinsettia as our desk top photo. Just nice to see flowers and color. The photographer answered our wish. Thanks.

  2. Nice Shots. I was part of a crowd funding project through Indegogo for a wireless trigger flash called the flash Q.
I have a ring flash, but prefer off camera flash to get different angles.
The flash Q is very small and fits the olympus cameras perfectly.
They fit full size flashes ,which I have various modifiers for.Cheap as well!

      1. I think you will be happy with them. I have two receivers one transmitter. I use yongunos on the canon but they are too bulky on the olympus.blog some shots – i would like to see the results.

        1. I ordered the two receivers as well. For both its less then one Pocket Wizard. I have a couple of Yonguno’s as well along with a Metz I can put into TTL mode that I use for event jobs. I would not mind trying these on my Alien Bee’s as well. They have a sync cable to they may work!

When I get them in I’ll give them a try.

          Thanks again!
