Iron and Glass

Keeping with a theme, each of these images incorporates some sort of metal. For naming purposes I call it iron because it sounds better then random metal and glass or steel and glass. I realize slipping in the bridge photo doesn’t go with the other photos which incorporates some sort of metal work on a building but I liked it so I snuck it in.

These were all taken in Baltimore which doesn’t believe in ripping down all its old buildings and redoing them. They tend to leave the outsides along and redo the insides so you get something more interesting then just some random new building that doesn’t have a lot of character to it. Some modern stuff is interesting depending on your mood but its mostly concrete and glass. There isn’t a lot of ornamentationĀ to them. So when you see a building with the classic fire escape, or the iron work near the windows it gives it something more then just the modern esthetic.

For those of inquiring minds, yep the Panasonic G5 and the Nikon 55 1.2.

Enjoy.

  1. Love the old architecture, it has soul. You capture it in your photos. The bridge and the glass buildings are a must for getting around Baltimore on foot and building them high without soul I am sure is less expensive. Enjoyed the shots.
