Back To My Roots

I have studiously avoided flowers for some time now. I have mentioned before, not a fan. I am good at shooting them but I really don’t like them. So I went to Meadowlark Gardens when I got out of work early to do some shooting on my double secret new camera and brought along my EM1 and the macro lens. Meadowlark Garden’s was the first place I ever shoot a DSLR a long time ago. I remember being so excited walking around with my Canon and non-marco lenses just shooting everything. Then taking the images in Picasa and going nuts. Who knew about destructive editing? That was a long time ago, things have changed. I’m a photography business owner. I have spent WAY too much on gear. I own WAY too many cameras. I also now edit in Lightroom and Photoshop which I professed to hate a long time ago.

I didn’t just want to shoot standard shots this time around. The angles are weird, the plants are different, and I used a flash on some of these photos. The light was changing on me which is why you go from extremely bright Sun to flash. I also tweaked the editing process about halfway through and was too lazy to go back and re-edit the early ones. Regardless. Enjoy.

  1. Like all of the flowers. Hard not to like a flower, with the exception of “weed” flowers which take over gardens. I choose the closed blue flower which I do not know what it is but the blue is very nice. Would like to see these flowers when they open. Your photos have been a pleasure to view.
